Missed Fall Senior Photos? Spring Senior Sessions in Colorado
Yes, You Can Still Get Spring Senior Photos in Colorado
If your senior missed summer and fall portraits, spring senior photos in Colorado are a beautiful second chance, and honestly, spring has some of my favorite light of the whole year. Fall gets all the attention, but spring brings fresh green grass, blooming trees, and long golden evenings across Castle Rock, Douglas County, and the Denver Metro. Maybe sports ate every weekend, or your senior just wasn't ready yet. None of that means you missed your chance. I hold spring dates specifically for Class of 2027 seniors who didn't get fall photos, so there is room for you.
When Spring Senior Sessions Happen (and When Dates Open)
Most spring sessions happen from late April through May, once Colorado has mostly shaken off its last snow. I don't schedule senior sessions over the winter, because the weather here is too unpredictable and your senior deserves an unhurried golden hour, not frozen fingers. In January, spring dates go to the Future Seniors List first, before we post them anywhere else. A couple of weeks later, we open any remaining dates to everyone. If you already know you want spring senior photos in Colorado, joining the list now is the easiest way to get the date you want.
Why Spring Might Actually Be the Better Season
Here's something parents don't always expect: by spring, your senior has grown even more into who they are. The college decision is often made, the nerves have settled, and there's a confidence that shows up on camera. That's also the season to bring the college sweatshirt, the letterman jacket, or the cap and gown if you want those moments captured. Spring sessions also land right when you need them, just before graduation announcements, open house displays, and the album on the table at the grad party. Fall is lovely, but spring photos tell the story of who your senior is at the very end of this chapter.
Where We Shoot: Spring Locations Around Castle Rock and Denver
Spring in Colorado gives us a lot to work with, and I plan every location around your senior's personality. We can go urban with brick and city energy in Denver, head to lakes and rivers where the water is full and the trees are just leafing out, or find flowering trees and gardens in town when the crabapples and lilacs are blooming. The foothills and open grasslands closer to home turn green first, creating a soft, fresh backdrop you won't get in fall. If your senior wants something bigger, the Destination Experience includes travel within 100 miles of Denver Metro and room to bring a best friend along. Wherever we go, the goal is a place that feels like your senior, not a backdrop they're standing in front of. See the kinds of places I love to shoot on my Senior Photo Locations page.
What a Spring Session Looks Like, Start to Finish
Spring senior photos in Colorado follow the same full experience my fall seniors get. You choose your session first: the Classic Experience (about an hour at one location), the Signature Experience (about two hours across two locations), or the Destination Experience (an extended session at a scenic spot). Session fees start at $175. Before your session, we plan outfits, locations, and timing together, so nobody is staring into a closet the night before. On session day, I guide every moment, a parent stays nearby, and your senior gets to just be themselves while I handle the posing and the light. Afterward, we meet in person for your reveal, where you see your gallery for the first time and choose the prints and albums your family will keep.
How to Get on the Spring Calendar
The simplest first step is to join the Future Seniors List, because that's where spring dates show up first in January. You'll also get planning tips, outfit ideas, and a clear look at how the whole experience works, so you're ready the moment dates open. If your senior is in the Class of 2028, join too, since the summer and fall 2027 schedule goes to the list first in March. When you're ready to talk details, send me an inquiry, and I'll send my full guide. Spring senior photos in Colorado fill up fast because the window is short, so don't wait until April to start planning.

A: This is Colorado, so spring snow happens. We'll watch the forecast together and talk through options.
Q: Can my senior wear college gear or a cap and gown?
A: Yes, and I love it. Spring is the perfect season to capture the college sweatshirt, a team jersey, or the cap and gown.
Q: Do parents come to the session?
A: Yes. Since most seniors are under 18, I ask that a parent stay nearby during the session.
